Vincent Van Gogh

1. Who was Vincent Van Gogh?
He was a painter from Netherland . He was a son of a pastor, Vincent was highly emotional and lacked self-confidence.

2. Why was he so famous?
 Vincent Van Gogh was famous because he was a good painter. One of  his good paints was Starry Night. 

 3. What was happening in the United States during the time period?

1853 - President Filmore dies in office, succeeded by Franklin Pierce

- America and Mexico sign Gadsden Treaty; Vice President William King dies; Arctic explorer Elisha Kane ventures farther north than any man has before.

4. What was happening in your community during that time period? Did your community exist?
1852 -  Uncle Tom’s Cabin published - Jossiah Priest publishes Bible defense of slavery   Franklin Pierce elected president; Napoleon III's Second Empire established in France; California encourages Chinese to immigrate and work on railroads
